I don’t usually post things on a personal level, but this is something ‘m so excited about that I just had to share.

On a recent trip, we stopped by my Aunt and Uncle’s house for a brief visit, and I came across a class picture that included my mother around the age of eight.  She grew up in Sterling Run, PA, and all the family pictures were lost in the flood of 1942, so I had never seen a picture of her as a child.  Fortunately, someone in the Sterling Run Historical Society had some pictures and recently published a brochure on the local schools.  StellaWhitingKane

My mom is the 5th from the left on the top row.   About 15 years ago, she went to her 60th class reunion, and, amazingly, over 75% of the class were able to attend.

Someone had done a genealogy study for my uncle (my mother’s brother), and I learned a lot from that, too.  Their ancestors came from Germany in the early 1600’s and settled in Massachusetts first.  Then they moved to Sterling Run PA in the early 1700’s.  It was beyond great learning about the family.
